“Nasties” being the nickname for nasturtiums, given to them by a long-time buddy of mama who, alas, is now not with us.
I by no means knew her as a result of mama met her in Los Angeles someday at a communal compost pile and she or he was from Texas, too, and…get this…a cheerleader on the faculty that was mama’s faculty’s rival and the place MAMA was a cheerleader. Jeez, Louise, discuss serendipitous conferences, no matter which means.

What’s a cheerleader, anyway? Do they nonetheless exist? Sounds dinosauric to me, haha.
So – to get on with this story: Mama’s buddy, Sandy, liked “nasties” and she or he and mama planted them everywhere in the neighborhood. Even now, mama carries a pocketfull of nastiurtium seeds together with her in spring to tuck them right here and there within the flower bins of our little villlage, a type of shock deal with for the city.
However proper now, they’re going bananas in our backyard and we needed to share their pleasant magnificence with you.
